Community Tree Planting at Balam Reserve Reinforces Our Commitment to Sustainability

At Balam Reserve, sustainability is more than a vision it is an ongoing commitment to protecting and enhancing Belize’s unique natural environment.

Earlier this week, we were delighted to welcome members of the neighbouring Mennonite community in Corozal, who volunteered their time to support our environmental conservation efforts. Together, we planted new trees in selected areas of the reserve where additional reforestation was beneficial, helping to strengthen native vegetation and preserve the ecological integrity of the land.

In addition to the tree planting, the team also assisted in clearing several pathways that had become overgrown with vegetation, improving access to different parts of the property while carefully respecting the surrounding ecosystem.
The Mennonite communities of northern Belize have played an important role in the development of the Corozal District for many decades. Renowned for their agricultural expertise, strong work ethic, and close connection to the land, they have made significant contributions to the region’s economy and rural communities. We are proud to have such valued neighbours and sincerely appreciate their willingness to support Balam Reserve’s environmental initiatives.

As Balam Reserve continues to move forward, we remain committed to responsible land stewardship, conservation, and working alongside local communities to preserve this remarkable landscape for future generations.
